A viewing guide to The Shards

Original context, checked against this title’s facts and the sources below. Streaming listings are dated separately above.

Everyone's looking at Robert

Igby Rigney plays Bret, with Homer Gere as Robert Mallory, the student whose arrival overlaps with the threat of a serial killer called the Trawler. That timing gives Bret something to fixate on. It isn't proof that Robert is the killer. The hook is watching a teenager try to make sense of someone who's caught his attention while people his age are in danger.

Ellis's world, with Murphy involved

The series adapts Bret Easton Ellis's novel and has Ryan Murphy as an executive producer. The 1980s Los Angeles setting brings school friendships, sex, and money into the same story as the killings. Expect those relationships to matter alongside the mystery.
